I have been wanting to write a blog for awhile, but other than the arrival of little Remy into our family this past October, I haven't had a reason to. Until this week. This week I mailed out letters of support announcing that I will be participating in the Rock'n'Roll Marathon in San Diego, California on June 1. All along the way, I will be raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, to help research and treat blood cancers. We have an honored teammate in whose honor we will be running. Her name is Chloe and she lives outside of New Orleans in Harvey, Louisiana. Her family is living with the reality of blood cancers every day. We hope that the money that we raise over the next few months will go towards helping make their lives, and the lives of millions of others living with cancer, a lot easier.
This morning we had our first group training run/walk. We took and group picture and that made me realize that I should begin to blog about my experiences over the next 4 months. So here we go...

Hi Melissa, congrats on the new blog! I started one today as well. I'm a runner, but think I'm done with marathons, too hard (smile). Good Luck, Bob
Yes! Have at it. As a lymphoma survivor in Oregon, I'm delighted to read of your efforts and dedication to funding further research. Now, if we could just get some folks who respect the power of science in the White House, we'd be half way to the cure. In any case, thanks for your good work.
